Rhinoscopy/Otoscopy

Rhinoscopyand otoscopy are advanced diagnostic techniques used in veterinary medicine to examine the nasal cavity (rhinoscopy) and external ear (otoscopy) in animals. These procedures allow veterinarians to directly observe the internal structures of the nose and ear using special optical instruments.

1. Rhinoscopy (rhinoscopy): Rhinoscopy is the examination of an animal's nasal cavity, nasal passages and throat using a rhinoscope - a flexible speculum equipped with a light source and camera. The rhinoscope is inserted into the animal's nostril, allowing the veterinarian to accurately assess the nasal mucosa, detecting inflammatory lesions, polyps, tumors, foreign bodies and other health problems.
2. Otoscopy: Otoscopy is the examination of an animal's outer ear using an otoscope - a special speculum equipped with a light source and camera. The otoscope is inserted into the outer ear, allowing the veterinarian to evaluate the ear canal, eardrum and other ear structures. This allows detection of infections, ear infections, foreign bodies, tumors and other ear-related health problems.

Rhinoscopy and otoscopy are non-invasive diagnostic methods that allow accurate evaluation of the internal structures of the nose and ear in animals. These procedures are particularly useful in diagnosing a variety of health problems, such as infections, inflammation, tumors, polyps, foreign bodies, allergies and other conditions related to the animal's nasal cavity and ear.

Prior to performing these examinations, veterinarians use local anesthesia to minimize the pet's discomfort during the procedure. Rhinoscopy and otoscopy are often performed in cases where an animal has difficulty breathing, nasal or ear discharge, repeated infections or other abnormalities related to the respiratory and auditory systems.
